Thermos Uppma - Savory Cream of Wheat

1 cup of spring or filtered water

¼ cup organic cream of wheat

Salt to taste

1 tsp. Ghee

¼ tsp mustard seeds

4-5 curry leaves

Pinch of hing (asofetida)

⅛ tsp of turmeric


  1. Bring water to boil and add to thermos

  2. Add ¼ cup cream of water and stir constantly for 15 seconds

  3. Seal thermos

  4. After ONE minute stir contents thoroughly and vigorously

  5. Seal thermos TIGHTLY

  6. Let sit for 15 minutes

  7. In small pot melt the ghee

  8. When the ghee is hot add the mustard seeds

  9. When the mustard seeds turn gray and start to pop add the curry leaves, hing and turmeric

  10. Mix well and add to thermos after it has been sealed for 15 minutes

  11. Add salt to taste

  12. Enjoy


*Turmeric stains counters and clothes - yellow. Be careful
