Sounds of Bhakti - Hare Krsna Hare Rama

One man and one mantra. Hard to believe that Sri Prabhupada started the Hare Krsna Movement - with over a million followers and centers in US, Europe, Asia, Australia - centered on this simple infectious delightful chant. Hare Krsna Hare Rama. Many have heard of the Hare Krsna group with their chanting of this simple mantra and dancing usually in the streets in orange robes. Like most things, I came across this chant when searching for something else.

Usually when we listen it is hard to separate all the sensory and intellectual associations with the sounds. The mind gets in the way - we feel the religion, we see shaved heads and orange robes, we think over the philosophy and examine the meanings. But in the end with sacred sound - we need to experience the sound - it alone can convey the essence of mantra. Like a ray of the sun - depending on where in spectrum it is transmitted and heard - the perception of what it will appear as will change. Close to source it will be pure, radiant. Far a way - it will be colored in sensory/mind associations.

Listen to his voice minus everything else. There is something about his voice - you could examine the nuances of how the sounds are made - they are multidimensional emanating from various places anatomically - compare them to the chorus for contrast - but what makes them special is him - his purity, his faith, his bhakti and it is Grace that is gifted to the Heart when he is chanting. What is in the sounds - lightness, dissolution of sorrow, elevation to a place that has no sorrow - not mine, not yours or anyone else, innocent happiness of a child, joy.

It is possible ? Listen for yourself but don't be surprised if you start singing and dancing. I did.
